Product information "The Woolly Weather Cover"
One babywearing cover...
Simply place your wool cover around your baby carrier. Attach the tabs with the press studs to the shoulder straps at the top by folding them around the straps and fastening them. This means the cover fits easily onto all common baby carriers as well as woven wraps.
For a snug fit at the sides, wrap the lower tabs around the waist belt and secure them with the press studs. The drawstring at the bottom allows you to adjust the shape of the cover so that it provides optimal protection and insulation.
...so many possibilities
LELY is your flexible everyday companion, providing cosy protection wherever you need it. And it isn't limited to babywearing: simply place it over the car seat to help keep your baby warm, or use it in the pushchair as additional protection from draughts.
The cover offers even more possibilities. Spread it out as a soft play area when you're out and about, or use it as a practical changing mat on cool surfaces.
This gives you a versatile companion that provides your baby with warmth and a feeling of security – wherever you are.
Our wool: pure nature, craftsmanship and attention to detail
A home on the Elbe for genuine guardians of nature
Our wool begins its journey in the border region between Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg, where our sheep roam the meadows as genuine guardians of the landscape and help maintain the dykes.
Here, they live in their natural environment as part of an organically certified landscape conservation farm on the Elbe – an approach to animal husbandry that is not only important to us, but very close to our hearts.
They provide us with wool that embodies exactly what we stand for: respect for animals and nature, honesty and quality.
Craftsmanship from the Elbe to the Bavarian Forest
Our wool follows a long and carefully considered journey.
First, it is washed in Belgium at a GOTS-certified washing facility using pure soda – without chemical additives and with great care to prevent the fibres from felting and to preserve their soft, natural structure.
It then travels to Brandenburg, where the valuable fibres are spun into yarn.
At a cloth mill in the Bavarian Forest with an impressive tradition spanning eleven generations, the yarn is transformed into loden fabric.
This plush loden is loosely and carefully woven – not knitted – to provide the best possible stability and prevent it from stretching out of shape in any direction.
Why wool is a natural wonder fibre
Wool has a special characteristic that makes it truly unique: its fascinating open-pored structure.
Imagine each wool fibre as a tiny bundle of drinking straws, each containing microscopic hollow spaces. These spaces naturally absorb moisture – up to 30% of the wool's own weight – without the wool feeling wet.
This fibre structure allows air and warmth to circulate while helping to retain your body heat and shield you from external influences.
And that's exactly what makes wool so special: it doesn't actively heat or cool. Instead, it acts as a natural insulating layer for you and your baby whenever you need it.
Layer upon layer of comfort
Our plush loden is loosely woven and consists of countless overlapping fibres that together create an effective insulating layer.
This helps keep your babywearing experience comfortable and pleasant, whatever the weather outside.
Thanks to its breathable structure, air can circulate and moisture can be transported through the material – keeping everything fresh and well ventilated, just as nature intended.
Plastic-free and made with care
The wool cover that accompanies you and your baby is not only completely plastic-free, but also represents our responsible approach to animals and the environment.
At every stage of its journey, we make sure that our philosophy – mindful and sustainable – is reflected in every babywearing cover.
Wool's natural self-cleaning properties
Wool has natural self-cleaning properties. Simply airing it out is often enough, meaning that washing is required less frequently.
This is due to the structure of the wool fibre: its water-repellent outer layer allows water vapour to enter the inside of the fibre, where up to 30% moisture can be absorbed without the wool feeling wet.
The special structure of the fibres also creates slight movement that helps release dirt particles, keeping your wool fresh and clean.
